The Timing I Never Chose
The Timing I Never Chose
At the end of April, we submitted an application to the school's supplementary admissions round — far more documentation and preparation than a decision we'd been circling for six months should have taken to finally act on. We decided to let the outcome be what it would be.Every part of that decision came down to one simple comparison: the risk of waiting had started to feel bigger than the risk of trying.
Today I live in Seogwipo, Jeju. My kids attend that school. I still write. I still trade, on my own terms, by my own rules. No company badge, no commute to dread. What I have instead is a day I get to shape myself — time I spend actually feeling myself grow, deciding for myself what fills it.If someone reading this is standing exactly where we stood — holding a decision at arm's length with the words "once things are a little more stable" — here's what I'd want to tell you. That sentence may never end on its own.
