The Family Behind the Wind

Our Story

We’re a family of four in our 40s — and a year ago, we did something a lot of people called reckless.

My husband took a full year of parental leave. I walked away from a 10-year career at IBM, choosing early retirement instead of the next promotion. Together, we packed up our life in the city and moved to Jeju Island with our two kids, ages 6 and 9, in tow.

On paper, none of it made sense. I’d spent my whole life doing everything “right” — the right schools, the right job, the right five-year plan. Until we turned 40, we lived what most people would call a stable, typical Korean life.

Our Kids

But somewhere along the way, we started asking a question we couldn’t shake: what kind of life do we actually want our kids to see?

Not the one where success means surviving. The one where they watch their parents choose courage over comfort.

This is where we’re documenting all of it – the beautiful parts and the hard parts, the moments we feel brave and the moments we want to turn back. If you’ve ever stood at your own edge, wondering whether to jump, you might find something here that feels familiar.
